Solo Expedition Procedure

Use this procedure when no referee is present.

Before Entry

Define:

  1. goal
  2. target site
  3. likely reward
  4. likely danger
  5. return condition

Turn Loop

  1. Follow the Nanus exploration turn.
  2. If the next fact is obvious, state it.
  3. If the next fact is uncertain, ask the oracle.
  4. If danger escalates, make the cost visible.
  5. After each turn, ask whether to continue or head back.

Yes / No Oracle

When the answer is uncertain, roll 2d6.

2d6 Answer
2 No, and complication
3-5 No
6-8 Unclear; add cost, clue, or delay
9-11 Yes
12 Yes, and advantage

Adjust by -2 to +2 for strong odds.

Prompt Types

Ask short questions:

  • Is the route open?
  • Is someone already here?
  • Is the contact willing to talk?
  • Is the salvage portable?
  • Is there a second threat?

Solo Worldbuilding Use

When a site or faction is still undefined, establish only what the current goal needs.

Build outward through play instead of front-loading setting detail.
